On April 07, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on Richter scale shook Uttarakhand at around 4 pm in the evening. The tremors were felt in Ruidrapyayag and the epicentre was Ukhimath – a small town which is 41 km away from Rudraprayag. Since the intensity was low, there were no incidents reported of any loss of life or damage to property.

Earlier in the month of February, another quake shook Rudraprayag which was measured 5.6 on the Richter Scale. The tremors were also felt in Delhi-NCR and nearby regions including Ghaziabad, Pithoragh, Mathure, Rishikesh, Mussorie and Chandigarh. This earthquake caused several damages to the buildings in the affected areas.

More details awaited.
