When Reema Lagoo slapped Salman Khan -- watch video

Reema Lagoo played the role of Salman Khan's mother in Maine Pyaar Kiya, Judwaa and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Reema Lagoo, who passed away in Mumbai after suffering from cardiac arrest, shared a great bond with Salman Khan both on and off-screen. According to her, it was the Dabangg actor who chose her to play his mother on the silver screen. Their association dates back to Maine Pyaar Kiya which was his first film as a lead actor. But do you know Lagoo once lost her cool and slapped her favourite on-screen son?

She played Salman’s mother in Sooraj Barjatya’s 1999 blockbuster Hum Saath Saath Hain. Lagoo played a mother whose insecurities lead to fissures in the family. Her second son Prem (Salman) confronts her in a scene over her behaviour towards his elder brother Vivek (Mohnish Behl), who was, in fact, her stepson. During a heated argument, Mamta (Lagoo) slaps Prem only to regret it later. The cinema buffs were in a state of shock as they were used to watch the camaraderie between Bollywood’s favourite mother-son duo.

It was the only instance when Lagoo slapped her favourite on-screen son in front of the camera. Nevertheless, her chemistry with Salman Khan was loved by everyone. Both the actors worked together in Judwaa, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Meanwhile, check out the emotional scene from the film.
