Dear Sunil Grover, get over Kapil Sharma. About time you launched your own comedy show

Sunil Grover has been invited by AlB to join their team, but it will be better if he launches a show of his own. What say?

There is no end to news gossips surrounding the infamous Kapil Sharma-Sunil Grover fall out. Numerous TV channels and websites are coming up with various stories on how the rift has divided the comic fraternity. Amid rumours of Grover quitting the show getting stronger day-by-day, there is a fresh development in the entire episode. Popular online comedy channel All India Bakchod (AIB) publicly invited Grover to join their team of comedians. In the latest episode of On Air With AIB, hosts Ashish Shakya and Rohan Joshi sarcastically assured Grover that their shows do not involve men cross-dressing or being hit by slippers in flight.

In case Grover decides to walk out of The Kapil Sharma Show, it will be a bolt from the blue for Kapil Sharma. There are reports of  rival channels approaching the former for a new show. Grover, who plays dual roles of Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi on TKSS, is in a win-win situation. What aggravates Kapil Sharma’s misery is the fact that Grover has reportedly found support in Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar, who essay the role of Sharma’s on-screen nani (maternal grandmother) and servant on the show respectively. Instead of joining an established show, it will be better if Grover launches a show of its own.

Sceptics have pointed out how Grover had to reunite with Kapil Sharma after his show Mad In India flopped. Before falling out with the host, he used to play the popular character Gutthi. The times were different as Sharma was at the zenith of his career. But today the situation is different. TKSS has hit a rough patch with reports suggesting the TRPs having failed to surge since October. Even the host comedian’s presence has failed to do any good. On the other hand, Sunil Grover is welcomed with thunderous applause whenever he makes an entry into the show.

With his popularity at the peak, it will be an excellent idea for Grover to launch his own show. After all, he has been doing stage shows and garnering crowds. A separate product will also act as a sweet revenge against the alleged humiliation he faced by Sharma on board a flight from Melbourne to Mumbai. In case it happens, it will be interesting to see whether his TKSS colleagues join Grover or not.

What is your opinion on the idea?
