Sonu Nigam Azaan row: Now, Bengal cleric says singer shaved head to get rid of lice

The Muslim cleric also heaped praises on Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi

The ongoing spat between singer Sonu Nigam and Bengal cleric Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi is refusing to settle down. After Sonu Nigam accepted the challenged of the cleric and shaved his head, Quaderi said Sonu Nigam probably wanted to get rid of lice.

Speaking at a new conference, Quadri said,” First of all he did not complete the challenge. Two other conditions remain. He has only shaved his head only to get rid of lice and escape the summer heat. He should fulfill the other two conditions which are to wear a garland of old shoes around his neck and visit houses of 130 crore people of the country and apologise to them” He also said that Sonu should leave this country if he has problem with Azaan and temple’s ghanta.

The Muslim cleric also heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he stopped his speech midway for azaan.

“I salute PM Modi. He stopped speaking as soon as azaan was heard from a nearby mosque and waited till it got over. Both PM Modi and Mamata Bannerjee respect the Constitution of the country and know how to show respect to every religion,” India Today quoted him as saying.

“If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person,”Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi said during a news conference in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Following the report, Singer took an unprecedented call and announced he will go bald. “Today at 2 pm Aalim will come to my place, and shave my head. Keep your 10 lakhs ready Maulavi”.In another tweet, he wrote, “And Press is welcome to participate at 2 pm.” He later shaved his head and asked Maulavi to fulfill his promise.

In a series of tweets, he vented his anger over the’ forced religiousness’ the country and questioned when this ‘ Goondagardi’ will stop. However it was his first tweet about being woken up to Azaan and forced religiousness in the country that became a butt of controversy. The singer was relentlessly trolled and even an FIR was filed against him in Mumbai.
