Sanjay Dutt is more eager than us to see himself as Munna Bhai: Rajkumar Hirani has a happy news to share

Sanjay Dutt, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra talked about and gave an interesting insight into Munna Bhai 3, at the trailer launch of Bhoomi

Ever since Sanjay Dutt’s release from the jail, his fans are have awaited the return of Bollywood’s Baba in his memorable character Munna Bhai. The makers had initially titled the third instalment of Munna Bhai franchise as Munna Bhai Chale America, however, the idea was later shelved owing to the similarities with My Name Is Khan.

Ever since there has been increasing speculations on the subject. When Sanjay Dutt was asked to comment on the status of Munna Bhai 3 at the Bhoomi trailer launch event, the actor said,

“I think instead of asking me, you should ask Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi about Munna Bhai 3.

Talking about Munna Bhai 3, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said that the film was still being scripted and the makers would start shooting for the film as soon as the script gets locked.

“Abhijat is working on the script since 3 years and Sanjay Dutt was bored waiting for us. He always used to ask us ‘Ho Raha Hai Na?’ and I used to reply ‘Haan Ho Raha Hai’. He would then ask ‘Likh Rahe Ho?’ and I had a standard reply ‘Haan, Likh Rahe Hai’. The day we finish writing the film, we would start shooting for it the next day,” said Chopra.

Munna Bhai MBBS as well as Lage Raho Munna Bhai have gained immense popularity over the years and the characters of Munna and Circuit have got a cult following. The franchise, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, commands a terrific fan following among the Indian audience and many felt that Munna Bhai 3 would have been an ideal comeback for Sanjay Dutt.

However, the actor believes that there couldn’t have been a film better than Bhoomi to make a comeback as the film, apart from having a hard hitting story line, gave him a lot of scope to explore his acting skills.

Directed by Omung Kumar, Bhoomi releases in September.
