Akshay Kumar won his maiden National Award in the Best Actor category for Rustom, and Twitter lost it completely

Akshay Kumar won his maiden National Film Award for his role of naval officer Rustom Pawri in Rustom. The actor was quick to acknowledge his family and fans for the feat. The 64th National Film Awards were announced on Friday with Akshay winning the Best Actor Award. On the other hand, Sonam Kapoor found special mention for her role in Neerja which was adjudged the Best Hindi film.

Soon after the announcement, social media went berserk in congratulating the Rustom actor for the achievement. Among those who extended good wishes included Twinkle Khanna, actor Anupam Kher and others. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, Rustom is based on the historic 1959 Bombay High Court judgement which acquitted naval officer KM Nanavati who was accused of murdering his wife’s lover.
