The Indian film industry is not just confined to Bollywood or the south Indian film fraternity. The regional cinema has gained immense popularity in recent years. Especially, the Bengali film industry that has given us iconic filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Ritwick Ghatak and others. Besides the actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dev, Jeet and other male stars, the industry boasts of stunning divas who are no less than their Bollywood counterparts.

Here are 9 stunning beauties about whom you should know.

Raima Sen: Having made her cinematic debut in Shabana Azmi-starrer Godmother, Raima Sen earned further acclaim in Rituparno Ghosh’s Chokher Bali. Daughter of Moon Moon Sen and grand-daughter of Suchitra Sen, 37-year-old Raima is an established name in the Bengali film industry. In a film career spanning more than two decades, she has worked in critically acclaimed films like Antar Mahal, Hrid Majharey, The Bong Connection, Baishe Srabon and others.

Mimi Chakraborty: Having participated in Femina Miss India, Mimi Chakraborty started out as a television actor. She shot to fame with her role in soap Gaaner Oparey which was directed by Rituparno Ghosh. The success opened the gates for her in the film industry and there was no looking back for Jalpaiguri-born star. Mimi acted in films like Bangali Babu English Mem, Gangster and others.

Srabanti Chatterjee: A debut in the film featuring stalwarts like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, and Satabdi Roy is nothing less than a dream. Srabanti Chatterjee was fortunate to make her foray into the film industry in 1997 film Mayar Badhon. But it was 2013 superhit Champion which catapulted her to stardom. Srabanti later acted in successful films like Bhalobasha Bhalobasha, Dujone, Wanted and others.

Paoli Dam: You have seen her as vengeful Kavyah in Vivek Agnihotri’s erotic-thriller Hate Story. But Paoli Dam is a prominent star in the Bengali film industry. She gained accolades for Gautam Ghose’s directorial Kaalbela, in which she played the love interest of a Naxal leader. Paoli went on to act in films like Hochchheta ki, Jamai Raja, Charitro Kalponik and others. She will be next seen in Devi opposite Shubh Mukherjee.

Koel Mallick: Born Rukmini Mallick, Koel enjoyed early success when her debut flick Nater Guru became a runaway hit at the box office. Subsequent duds did dampen her spirits, but the Kolkatan found her mojo back with 2004 blockbuster Bandhan, in which she shared screen space with Jeet. Koel was recently seen in 2015 flick Herogiri, also starring Mithun Chakraborty and Dev.

Subhashree Ganguly: A former model, Subhashree Ganguly is known for blockbusters like Boss, Game: He Plays To Win, Abhimaan and others. She was rumoured to be dating superstar Dev, although both the actors have repeatedly denied the reports. She will be seen in Boss 2: Born to Rule which releases around Eid on June 25.

Nusrat Jahan: Nusrat Jahan set the box office on fire when she shared screen space with Dev in romantic comedy Khoka 420 in 2013. A former model, she continued her successful outing with films like Love Express, Zulfiqar and others. Her upcoming film is Ami Je Ke Tomar which has Ankush and Sayantika Banerjee in pivotal roles.

Swastika Mukherjee: Swastika gained accolades for her cameo in Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. But little do we know that the 36-year-old actor is a known face in the Bengali film industry. In a career spanning more than 15 years, she has acted in films like Saheb Bibi Golaam, Ebar Shabor, Jaatishwar, Basanta Utsav and others.

Sayantika Bannerjee: Sayantika Bannerjee is known for her acting and dance prowess. She shot to fame with 2012 film Awara which turned out to be commercially and critically successful. She worked in films like Target, Hangover, Mone Pore Ajo Sei Din, Shooter and others.
