Watch: Rajinikanth addresses Chennai fans after 8 years; talks politics with them

Rajinikanth's fans have often asked him to take the political plunge and here's what the superstar has to say about his political journey

Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday met his fans after a gap of 8 long years and the entire social media is filled with pictures and videos from the fan meet. The actor met his fans at the Raghavendra Wedding Hall in Chennai and will meet them for four days starting from May 15 to May 19.

The actor will meet his die-hard fans in batches. His fans have often asked their ‘Thalaivar’ (leader) to take the political plunge, even as he has been wooed by many political parties on account of his mass appeal. To which he said, ”If in case I decide to join politics, I won’t allow wrong people to join me, I’ll keep them away. Committed a mistake by supporting a political alliance 21 years back, it was a political accident.”

He not only talked about politics but also told that in early days of his career he had a drinking problem. He said that his elder brother taught him a lot of life lessons. Not only this, the superstar also revealed that many people think he say controversial things during the relase of his films to promote them. He said: ”I have your blessings and love and there is no need for me to do so. No matter what you do, if the film is bad it will fail. People are smart.”

Rajinikanth was slated to hold a similar meeting last month but had postponed it on a request made by them for individual photographs for which more number of group interactions was required. The last such meeting with fans was in 2009, post his Sivaji success.

Here’s a look at some of the picutres and videos from his Chennai fan meet, shared by his fan clubs on the social media:
