Padmavati fiasco: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and other B-Town celebs come out in support of Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Our B-Town celebs are really shocked by this violent incident on the sets of Padmavati and took to social media lending their support to the filmmaker

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has landed itself in trouble with the Rajput Karni Sena in Jaipur. SLB was assaulted and slapped by a few members of the group on the sets of the film. Apparently, the group has problems with the way Rani Padmini of Chittor is being portrayed in the film.

The group protested on the sets of Padmavati while shooting in the Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur. To control the situation, SLB’s bodyguards fired gunshots in the air. In an interview with ANI, founder of the Rajput Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi said that things that didn’t exist in history shouldn’t be shown in films.

He further added:

Under our nose, on land of Rajputs they tampered wth history of our ancestors. Would Bhansali dare to go to Germany and make a film on Hitler.

And our B-Town celebs are really shocked and saddened by this violent incident and took to social media lending their support to the filmmaker. Here’s what they have to say about it:

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai said:

I strongly condemn this kind of unruly behaviour of one section of society to attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his unit on pre judgemental basis. Its responsibility of state govt to protect film makers who come to shoot and promote tourism through cinema in their historical monuments and icons. There is always a censor to look into it if any objectionable facts are there. Bhansali is a responsible film maker.
