1971 Beyond Borders: 7 reasons why Mohanlal's war-drama could be his 7th blockbuster in 8 months

While the film is gearing up for its grand theatrical release, InUth brings you seven factors why 1971 Beyond Borders could be Mohanlal's 7th blockbuster

Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s upcoming film 1971 Beyond Borders is slated to be released tomorrow. Directed by Major Ravi and produced by Haneef Mohammed, the war drama stars Asha Sharath in the female lead. The film is also the Malayalam superstar’s 7th theatrical release in a span of 8 months.

While the film is gearing up for its grand theatrical release, InUth brings you seven factors why 1971 Beyond Borders could be Mohanlal’s 7th straight blockbuster at the Box Office.

1) The brand ‘Mohanlal’

Prior to the year 2016, Mohanlal films largely worked only at the Kerala Box Office. But post the release of his 2016 film Janatha Garage, the brand ‘Mohanlal’ started working at non-Kerala markets as well. The actor is now having huge fan base across the Telugu film industry and the blockbuster success of Telugu dubbed versions of Pulimurugan and Oppam are the biggest proof for the same. Even in Mumbai, Mohanlal has emerged as the first South film actor to have a hat-trick of films with 50-theatrical days.

2) Mohanlal’s dual character

1971 Beyond Borders stars Mohanlal in dual roles. The four-time-national award winner will be seen portraying the father-son duo in the film as Major Sahadevan and Major Mahadevan. The first look poster featuring both the characters had an instant hit upon its release. Get ready to witness two Mohanlal with one ticket.

3) Return of Major Mahadevan

1971 Beyond Borders marks the return of Mohanlal in one of his most loved avatars, as Major Mahadevan. The film also marks the fourth installment of the Major Mahadevan series. Interestingly, in real life also Mohanlal has bagged the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel recognition by Indian Territorial Army.

4) Mohanlal – Major Ravi duo

1971 Beyond Borders marks the fifth collaboration between Mohanlal and director Major Ravi after Keerthi Chakra, Kurukshetra, Kandahar and Karmayodha. While Keerthi Chakra and Kurukshetra were huge hits at the Box office, Kandahar and Karmayodha turned out to be failures at the ticket windows. However, the positive response to the trailer and songs of 1971 Beyond Borders suggest that the actor-director duo will be aiming for their third Box Office success.

5) Sujith Vaassudev’s cinematography

Another interesting factor to look out for 1971 Beyond Borders will be the cinematography of Sujith Vaassudev. Upon its release, the trailer has been praised for the brilliant cinematography work of the Drishyam cinematographer. Sujith had also rated that his work in 1971 Beyond Borders as one of the best works of his career.

6) Action sequences

1971 Beyond Borders was in news for its action scenes as well. Major actions scenes of the film are being shot in Georgia to become the first Malayalam film to shot there. Lalettan has also done another stunt for 1971 Beyond Borders as the actor drives a real armoured tank for one of the major sequences in the film.

7) Presence of non-Malayalam actors

1971 Beyond Borders marks the Malayalam debut of Bollywood stars Arunodhay Singh, Neha Khan and Telugu stars Allu Sirish and Srushti Dange. The film also introduces many fresh faces including Mumbai-based model Priyanka Agrawal and Zoya Zayed Khan. The presence of these non-Malayalam stars along with the 35th subtitle outing of Vivek Ranjit suggest that 1971 Beyond Borders will be a success story outside Kerala as well.

1971 Beyond Borders also stars an ensemble cast including Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, Sudheer Karamana, Devan, Manikuttan and Krishnakumar.
