Liked Dear Zindagi? You'll love this deleted scene from Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer even more

The slice-of-life film Dear Zindagi starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt is deeply etched in the memories of cine buffs

For fans of Indian cinema, Dear Zindagi became a film which had no dearth of life lessons. When Shah Rukh Khan’s character Dr. Jehangir listened to Kiara’s (Alia Bhatt) problems in the film, viewers connected to it. Many felt that their own personal issues were being discussed on the celluloid, and that too with phenomenal detailing. After the film released, everyone was in awe of Gauri Shinde’s direction and the performance of the actors.

Dear Zindagi was also lauded for the way it touched on the topic of mental illness.

Now months after the film hit the screens, the makers have released a deleted scene that couldn’t make it to the final prints of the movie. In the video, Dr. Jehangir can be seen telling Kiara a historic story of Dona Maria, a lady who disguised as a man and fought in the army for many years.

Those who have watched the movie would remember that Alia’s short film that was shown in the end had the story of Dona Maria. Though, it was never revealed in the film how she came to know about her story, it is now known that Dr. Jehangir told her about it. It should be noted that Shah Rukh Khan’s rustic voice and storytelling skills make the scene truly bewildering.

Apart from Shah Rukh and Alia, Dear Zindagi also featured Angad Bedi, Ali Zafar and Kunal Kapoor. Though, they featured only in cameos they played an important role in taking the story forward. It was this blend of fine direction and memorable performances that made Dear Zindagi a hit.
