Jolly LLB 2: All you need to know about Akshay Kumar's courtroom drama

Akshay Kumar's much-awaited courtroom drama Jolly LLB 2 hits the theatres on February 10. Here's all you need to know

Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama Jolly LLB 2 has finally hit the theatres on Friday. It is the second instalment of the 2013 hit Jolly LLB which had Arshad Warsi in the lead role. The film had won two National Awards, including the one for Best Feature Film in Hindi. Here’s a sneak peek into the film.

Cast

The film has none other than Akshay Kumar playing the titular role of Jagdishwar Mishra, an ambitious lawyer based in Lucknow. Huma Qureshi plays his wife Pushpa Pandey. The film also has Kumud Mishra and Annu Kapoor in the pivotal roles. Saurabh Shukla, who won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in Jolly LLB, reprises his role in this film as Justice Tripathi.

Music

The songs of the Subhash Kapoor directorial have been composed by Meet Bros and Manj Musik. There are four songs in the movie and have become popular in recent times. There is a romantic song Bawra Mann featuring Akshay and Huma which is quite melodious. It has been sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan. Another Holi song Go Pagal is very peppy and is apt for the upcoming festival.

However, two songs which seem to have caught the attention are Jolly Good Fellow and the Qawalli number O Re Rangrezza.

Controversies

Before its theatrical release, the courtroom drama was hit by a controversy when news reports said Arshad Warsi was upset on being replaced by Akshay for the second instalment. However, the former refuted the rumours and even Akshay put an end to all the speculations saying that he wasn’t a part of Welcome 2 either.

However, the film found itself in another controversy when a lawyer filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, alleging the film portrayed lawyers in a bad light. He demanded that the scene wherein the lawyers are shown playing cards inside the courtroom and where the judge is shown hiding under the table be deleted. The makers then withdrew their plea from the court and decided to release the film with four cuts.

Box Office Prediction

It is expected that the film may rake Rs 16-20 crore in the first weekend. The possible reason behind this is that Jolly LLB2 does not face any competition this week. Also, Raees and Kaabil are going steady at the box office and it should not affect Akshay’s much-awaited film.
