I knew that Sultan would be a blockbuster, but don't regret rejecting it: Kangana Ranaut

We wonder what Salman Khan has to say about this.

After being embroiled in a much-talked-about controversy with Hrithik Roshan (which got reignited after her appearance on Rajat Sharma’s talk show Aap Ki Adalat), Kangana Ranaut seems to finally be talking about her films and past offers. The Queen actress, who is gearing up for the release of Simran, said that she doesn’t regret rejecting playing the character of Aarfa in Sultan. The actress revealed that she always expected the Salman Khan film to be a blockbuster, but it was a conscious decision on her part to not do the film.

Talking about Sultan, Kangana said:

“I don’t regret it. My films too have done good business at the box office. Whenever you get a film like Sultan, you already know that it will be a blockbuster. When you read such scripts, you know that it would do great business, but you consciously let that go. It is not that such films turn out to be sleeper hits like Queen.”

When asked if she preferred to be the face of the film rather than playing the female lead alongside a male protagonist, Kangana said that she has been choosing scripts based on the demand from the audience.

“Obviously, I would want to play the main lead if I am giving my time to a film and the audience too have huge expectations from me. Doing films with big stars have never worked in my favour, be it a film like Katti Batti or Rangoon. My films have always flopped whenever I have worked with established actors.”

Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar went on to earn over Rs 300 crore at the Box Office in India and was the second biggest blockbuster of 2016 after Aamir Khan’s Dangal. The character of Aarfa was eventually essayed by Anushka Sharma, who won a lot of acclaim for the portrayal of a Haryanvi wrestler.

In Simran, Kangana Ranaut will essay the character of a Gujarati girl named Praful Patel. The movie, directed by Hansal Mehta, is slated to hit the big screen on September 15.
