Baywatch is one of the most awaited films of 2017 so it doesn’t come off as a surprise to see how heavily it is being promoted. Posters are being dropped every now and then, most of which, feature Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. People love to see more of her which is why, when the first teaser was released, people were pissed. The teaser hardly featured PeeCee for a fraction of a second. This sparked an outrage and also fueled the blatant weighing up against former co-star Deepika Padukone. Her huge fanbase found some solace in the first trailer followed by a series of her solo posters but now, the old wounds have been dug out again. Once again, Priyanka Chopra is just a blink-and-miss flash in the new Super Bowl teaser of Baywatch. The question is, why does she deserve to be featured heavily in it?

Priyanka Chopra is not the star of the movie. She may be important back here in India, more so now that she’s in Hollywood but, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are bigger names than her on an international scale. Priyanka has only recently shot to global fame as opposed to her co-stars who have been in the business for years. Not to discredit her accomplishments, she’s pretty huge, but the posters are only meant to exploit her enormous fanbase. Otherwise, she’s just what she is, the villain. And as far as comedies go, villains are not as important.

The latest 30-second teaser, which was dropped during the Super Bowl, has riled up Priyanka’s fans as they want to see more of her. Don’t they realise that she’s not going to be there in every frame of the movie? Besides, this teaser was made for the Super Bowl. It literally makes no sense for Priyanka to be in it except if they wanted to go political and target Donald Trump’s immigration ban. Not very comedic, is it?

Now, had she been left out of a trailer of Quantico, a show where she is the leading star, then the frustration would have been justified because the story centers around Alex Parrish, which is not the case with her character Victoria Leeds in Baywatch. So, please keep an open mind here. The point of a teaser isn’t to reveal every detail, every character of the movie but to give out a few engaging scenes. Try and think of someone else playing the role of Leeds and ask yourself if you still feel her absence from the teaser irks you. Yes, you love Priyanka but, don’t be greedy. Just keep your pants on until May 26.
