Vinod Khanna passes away at the age of 70

Vinod Khanna who was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mumbai had died at the age of 70. He has reportedly succumbed to Cancer

Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna passed away on April 27 at the age of 70. The veteran actor was reportedly suffering from Cancer. Vinod Khanna was in the hospital undergoing treatment at the Sir H.N, Reliance foundation hospital since March 31.

“Veteran actor and MP Vinod Khanna breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma,” Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital released a statement as saying.

It was earlier reported that he had been admitted to the hospital after he complained of dehydration. Recently, a heartbreaking image of the actor in the hospital went viral on social media. His condition in the picture prompted many to believe that maybe he was sicker than what was told to media. Grapevine went abuzz that the yesteryear star was suffering from cancer.

However, his family claimed that he was recovering and will soon be discharged from the hospital. The veteran actor is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, three sons Akshaye, Rahul, Sakshi and daughter Shraddha Khanna. Vinod Khanna married Geetanjali in the year 1971. However, they filed for a divorce in the 1980s. He had also taken a break from Bollywood for five years and moved to the United States to join his guru Osho Rajneesh. He married his wife Kavita in the year 1990.

Soon after the image went viral on the social media the members from the film fraternity came out to pray for the actor. Salman Khan had also paid a visit to the actor in the hospital. Fans across the globe had been praying for the speedy recovery of the actor. Akshaye Khanna had earlier stated that “Dad is doing Okay”.

A four-time Lok Sabha MP from Gurdaspur, he has also served as a minister of state in Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government. He is known for acting in popular films including Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Amar Akbar Anthony, Dayavan and others. He was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer, Dilwale. He was also lauded for his performance in Dabangg opposite Salman Khan.
