Rangoon critic review: Shahid, Kangana and Saif's love saga is engaging

Is Rangoon the best performance of Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan till date?

Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and Saif Ali Khan starrer Rangoon is slated to hit your nearby theaters tomorrow. The movie has already piqued the interest of many with its power packed trailer, teasers, and soulful songs. Loosely based on 1942 Hollywood release Casablanca, Rangoon is said to be a drama film based on World War II. This is the third time Shahid is working with Vishal Bharadwaj.

Interestingly, this will be Saif Ali Khan’s second venture with the director after Omkara. As far as Kangana is concerned, this is her first film with Vishal Bharadwaj. With such an interesting star cast, Rangoon is one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

It is said that the ace director wanted to shoot for the film right after Omkara but due to some unavoidable circumstances, he had to wait. Rangoon supposedly portrays the life and times of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia. The intriguing storyline is written by Mathew Robbins, Sabrina Dhawan, and Vishal Bharadwaj.

The critics who watched the movie felt that this is got to be one of the best masterpieces they have seen in recent times. So by the looks of it, it seems, Vishal Bharadwaj has struck gold yet again with his masterstroke film! Here is the Rangoon critic review for you all.

Box office Trade maestro and critic Taran Adarsh said, “#Rangoon uses World War II template, but Vishal Bhardwaj tells a captivating love story that entwines conflict, deceit, politics, history…”

He added, “#Rangoon is visually stunning, but is *not* merely body beautiful. It has a soul. Powerful drama. Riveting second hour. Nail-biting finale…”


Taran stated, “#Rangoon talks of matters of the heart, relationships, love blossoming amidst guns and thorns. A content driven film that’s truly engaging…”

Talking about the performances he said, “Saif, Shahid, and Kangana pitch in tremendous performances. Saif is excellent, Kangna is outstanding, Shahid is dynamic, the scene-stealer…”


Overall, he loved the film and said, “#Rangoon is an epic love saga. Watch it for its layered plot, serpentine twists, skilful, and proficient direction and bravura performances.”

Bollywood popular critic Raja Sen stated, “#Rangoon is Vishal Bhardwaj at his most Inglourious. Top work from Shahid and Kangana, and phenomenal cinematography by Pankaj Kumar.”

Well! From the looks of it, Rangoon has already charmed the critics.
