OK Jaanu critics review: Aditya, Shraddha's love saga gets mixed reactions

Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor's OK Jaanu movie review is out. Is Shaad Ali's film the perfect progressive take for the millennials?

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are back with another love story in OK Jaanu. The movie that explores the progressive mind of youngsters is a sweet romantic tale of Adi and Tara who fall in love and decide to go in for a live-in relationship. However, things turn upside down when their career takes a front seat.

Shaad Ali’s movie is a remake of Tamil film titled O Kadhal Kanmani, which starred Nithya Menen and Dulquer Salmaan in lead roles. While people are praising Shraddha Kapoor for her stellar performance, the storyline of the film has been called predictable. Critics have also spoken about the film’s overall performance.

Here’s what the critics have in store for Aditya-Shraddha’s romantic saga:

Manjari Saxena of Gulf News stated that Shaad Ali’s film is a sweet love story. However, she added that it is really disappointing to see Mani Ratnam’s story loses the plot in the second half.  She found it to be highly repetitive. Manjari recommended that ardent fans can wait for the television premier of the film rather than spend their money in theatres.

Financial Express equated Shraddha-Aditya’s movie to that of Ranveer Singh’s Befikre. They called Shraddha and Aditya’s chemistry as one of the hallmarks of the movie. However, the movie has been touted as the same wine in a new bottle which is full of cliche scenes. The movie explores the complications that take place in a live-in relationship. However, it seems that the second half seems slow and unbearable.

BollywoodLife called the film a must watch and said that Shraddha’s performance deserves a standing ovation as she played her part extremely well. However, Aditya Roy Kapoor’s hard hitting power packed performance will blow your mind. On the whole, the film is receiving a mixed response from the audience and critics alike. But we hope, it becomes the first hit of the year 2017.
