Taapsee Pannu’s latest release Naam Shabana is moving ahead strongly at the box office and the film is not only doing great domestically but in the international market as well. Released in 2100 screens, Naam Shabana witnessed a great opening on its first weekend.

The film did a business of Rs 18.76 crore over the weekend and has made its place amongst the top mid-budget releases of this year. With its first weekend collection, Naam Shabana has surpassed the collection of Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri, Shraddha-Aditya’s OK Jaanu and Vidyut Jamwals’s Commando 2.

In week one of its release, the movie did a business of Rs 5.12 crore on Friday, Rs 6.37 crore on Saturday, Rs 7.27 crore on Sunday and Rs 2.54 crore on Monday, minting a total of Rs 21.30 crore so far. Helmed by Shivam Nair and written by Neeraj Pandey, Naam Shabana is a spy thriller and is a prequel of 2015 hit film Baby.

While Taapsee Pannu’s mind-blowing performance was hailed by one and all, the actress has proved that she can carry a film completely on her shoulders. Though Akshay Kumar plays a cameo in Naam Shabana, the movie still belongs to Taapsee and his star power didn’t overshadow the actress even once.

The actress has put in a lot of hard work for the film and to get into the skin of the character, Taapsee enrolled herself in the kickboxing and other fitness classes. Well, it looks like her hard work has finally paid off. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote:

Apart from Taapsee and Akshay, the film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Eli Avram and South actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in prominent roles. As of now, the movie doesn’t have any competition at the box office and it will be interesting to see how the movie performs in the coming weeks.
