More flak for Filmfare: Vaibhavi Merchant joins bandwagon of celebs displeased with award function

Vaibhavi Merchant has tweeted that Filmfare should have nominated her in the best actor category. Is it time for the award function to retrospect?

This year’s Filmfare Awards were shrouded in controversy since the nominations were announced. Though the ceremonies have concluded, there is rarely a day when someone expresses their displeasure over it. Now another celebrity has joined the bandwagon of those who weren’t happy with Filmfare—star choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Vaibhavi said that the organizers could have nominated her in the best actor category if they nominated Salman Khan for best choreography for Jag Ghoomeya song.

While Vaibhavi’s tweet might seem sarcastic to many, it also reeks of her discontent for the award show.

As it turns out, Vaibhavi is not the only one. On the awards evening, singer and composer Amaal Mallik took to Facebook to slam the oragnisers. He asked questions concerning why was Randeep Hooda not nominated for Sarbjit, Akshay Kumar for any of the movies of 2016, or why other good albums like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story were given a miss. Amaal also said that he was ashamed to be nominated for Baaghi.

After the award show, Harshvardhan Kapoor said that Diljit Dosanjh shouldn’t have won the best debut award. He said that the award should be given to someone who is facing the camera for the first time, not to an actor who has worked in many regional movies.

Now adding to the already long list of celebrities, Vaibhavi, too has tweeted about it. Here is her tweet:
