Vidya Balan’s Kahaani 2 is all set to conquer the screens this weekend. A mystery drama, the film is the second offering in the Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani franchise. The promotions of the film have generated enough curiosity among the audience for the film. But, with the good word of mouth around Shah Rukh Kha and Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi, it’ll be little difficult for Kahaani 2 to make its space at the Box Office.
Kahaani managed to make enough goodwill around its content when it released five years back. The film featured Vidya Balan in the character of a pregnant woman who sets on a journey to find her missing husband.
This time however, there’s a twist in the game. The entire mystery in the film is to deal with Vidya’s two characters or is it one with two identities? Arjun Rampal has joined the cast in the character of inspector Inderjeet Singh.
Talking about his Box Office expectations from Kahaani 2, director Sujoy Ghosh clearly mentioned that he just wants his film to be liked by the audience. Talking to InUth, he said:
Kahaani 2 is my favourite daughter. I want people to give it the same kind of love that they gave to Kahaani.
Even Arjun talked about the same and mentioned how he is not worried about demonitisation issues. He said:
I don’t think people will now be worried about note bandi issues because we have had a lot of time to sort those issues out. And even cinema halls have found out ways to deal with it.
A thriller genre and Vidya’s strong association with the brand can make Kahaani open to a decent amount. The film is expected to collect between Rs 5-6 crore at the Box Office in its opening day.
