Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar-starrer Hindi Medium‘s trailer is out and apart from making you laugh, it will make you think. Ironically enough, the movie talks about the struggle the Indian parents face to get their kids admission into private English-medium schools. Irrfan Khan is again in his elements with his brilliant acting and dialogue delivery. ¬†Dialogues like ‘My life is Hindi, my wife is English‘ and in one of the scenes where his wife, played by Pakistani actor, Saba Qamar, asks him to spell swimming pool, he is ready with an epic response, ‘Swimming, toh ‘S’ toh agaya apna pehle…aagey hisab laga lo‘, will definitely leave you in splits.

But there is a hard-hitting message the movie tries to convey in a funny way. In order to get their daughter admitted into one of the ‘good’ schools, which are nothing less than luxury hotels with swimming pools and air-conditioned classrooms, the family undergoes a makeover but to no avail. When their plan fails and they are unable to get their little daughter admitted in any of the schools, they come up with another idea. To avail the ‘gareeb quota’ in the schools, they ‘become poor’ but being poor comes with all its problems in India.

About the performance of actors, not much is needed to be said. Irrfan Khan’s screen presence, his effortless acting and his roles which he essays with utmost ease and which are very much relatable. As far as debutante Saba Qamar is concerned, from whatever we can see in this trailer, she complements Irrfan in every frame.
