Dear Sunny Leone, thank you for teaching me how not to give a damn to naysayers. Belated Happy birthday

Sunny Leone celebrates her 36th birthday today. Here is a heartfelt open letter penned by a die-hard fan of Bollywood's Baby Doll

Dear Sunny,

Belated Happy Birthday. I have been yearning to write this open letter to you for the past one year. And the moment has finally come when I express my deep love and respect to you, unmindful of how this society replete with hypocrites judges me. I have seen all your films and love your work on the silver screen. Even while penning this letter, I am listening to your songs. Three years ago, you along with hubby Daniel visited my office. As soon as you arrived, the entire newsroom went berserk. I had never seen people jostling against each other to have a glimpse of you. You looked drop dead gorgeous in a pink gown.

Earlier this year, you enthralled everyone with the popular Laila O Laila song from the film Raees, which had Shah Rukh Khan in it. FYI, the video of this song has raked in a whopping 1.72 crore views on YouTube. Whoaa!! It was indeed heartening to see you share the screen space with the lead actor Shah Rukh Khan. It was a befitting reply to those morons who had demeaned you and beat drums while claiming that no A-lister would like to work with you. You are also performing on a special song in Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi starrer Baadshaho. Now that you are in the big league with sheer hard work, the armchair critics would be cooling their heels off in their cocoons.

Much water has flown under the bridge since you made the foray into the drawing rooms via Bigg Boss 5. The TRP of the reality TV show skyrocketed and people started talking about you. I was no stranger to your quick rise to stardom overnight. When someone like Mahesh Bhatt visits the Bigg Boss house and offers someone a film, it is no mean feat. The grand finale of the event was won by Juhi Parmar, but the eyeballs keenly awaited your dance performance. This year, you shared the stage with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on an episode of Bigg Boss and stole the show.

“People write all sorts of crazy stories about me. Every single day there’s some crazy story about me. If I had started worrying about them, I would have probably packed my bags and left for the US already,” you once said. For someone like me who has always been wary of what people around think about me, you are an inspiration. How do you manage to stay so cool and slay your detractors with a cute smile? Even in that infamous interview in which a senior journalist tried all possible ways to pull you down, you maintained your composure and answered all kinds of uncomfortable questions. Little did you know that I was seething with anger and vented my ire on a friend who was making a casual remark about you.

You have lived to the vow you took of creating a Brand Sunny Leone. Now, producers queue up outside your plush apartment to have you on board. You are active on social media and I haven’t seen a single picture of yours without that trademark infectious smile. Well, I will end on a happy note and no longer nag you with endless words of praise.

Have a rocking birthday and stay blessed!
