Ekta Kapoor unveils poster of Lipstick Under My Burkha and its a 'middle finger' to age old patriarchy

After getting clearance from the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, Lipstick Under My Burkha is ready for release

Lipstick Under My Burkha, the film that was embroiled in a prolonged battle with the Pahlaj Nihalani-led Censor Board before getting the nod from Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT), will hit the theatres on July 21. The Alankrita Srivastav film will be pitted against Munna Michael that features Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor, who is the distributor of the film, shared the poster of Lipstick Under My Burkha.

“It takes ‘balls’ to b a woman! ….aaaah NOT????! The way to combat good old patriarchy …. is to question it in d face !!!” Ekta posted on her Instagram account. It should be noted that the renowned television and film producer was spellbound on watching the movie. She was personally invited by Prakash Jha for a special screening of Lipstick Under My Burkha.

Directed by Alankrita Srivastav, the film features Ratna Pathak Shah, Ahana Kumra, Konkona Sen Sharma and Plabita Borthakur. It chronicles the lives of four women of different age groups and their aspirations. Despite being stuck with the censor board, the film has fared well at the festivals. Konkona bagged the Best Actress award at the New York Indian Film Festival.
