Vidya Balan-starrer Begum Jaan has finally hit the theatres. Here's all you need to know about the film

Vidya Balan is ferocious and unabashed in his latest upcoming film Begum Jaan. She plays a brothel owner who finds her property in the line of Partition. However, she decides to fight against the injustice meted out to her. Here’s all you need to know about the film before flocking to the theatres.

Plot:

Most of the films revolving around Partition either have a tinge of romance or are over-patriotic, But Begum Jaan is different. It unfolds the endless sufferings experienced by the people in those times.
It is the story of a brothel owner Vidya Balan, whose property falls in between the line of partition. But the thing is, she won’t allow powerful people to divide her house.

How many films have been made on sex workers? They have been remodelled as courtesans, bar dancers who engaged in flesh trade. But Begum Jaan unabashedly narrates the ordeal of SEX WORKERS.

Cast
We know Vidya Balan might give another stunning performance. But don’t you dare miss other members of the cast. Chunky Pandey has broken the cliche for a serious role in which he takes on Begum Jaan. Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapoor, Vivek Mushran and Rajesh Sharma play pivotal roles.

Plus, you have Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Priyanka Setia, Ridheema Tiwary, Flora Saini, Raviza Chauhan, Poonam Rajput, Mishti (Indrani Chakraborty), Gracy Goswami.

Begum Jaan is a Hindi remake of Rajkahini starring Rituparna Sengupta, a Bengali film that released in 2015.  Both have been helmed by Srijit Mukherjee.

Rajkahini’s emotional starkness moved Mahesh Bhatt and he turned producer for the film.  Made at a budget of around Rs 40 crore, Begum Jaan has been shot in Jharkhand.
The film has been declared tax-free in the state. Begum Jaan fell victim to the scissors of censor board which chopped 12 scenes. The board also reduced the love making and violence scenes.

Music
Annu Mallik has composed the music and lyrics have been penned by Kausar Munir.

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle sang Prem Me Tore and it marked her reunion with Anu Malik.

Sonu Nigam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan crooned Azaadiyan which narrated the atrocities of Independence.

Box Office prediction

Wth no major competition, the film might earn 5-7 crore on the first day and lifetime collection could be Rs 50 crore. Our prediction is that the film will be an average grosser. The reason is simple. An Indian cinemagoer wants to go home in a happy mode. On the opposite, Begum Jaan is a disturbing film.
