Box office report: The Ghazi Attack, Running Shaadi and Irada fail to get footfalls on first day

The Ghazi Attack, Irada and Running Shaadi failed to get decent collection on first day of release. It was Akshay Kumar's Jolly LLB 2 that emerged a winner

Three releases on the same day is not a common sight in Bollywood. But this unusual thing happened yesterday as movies The Ghazi Attack, Running Shaadi and Iraada hit screens. However, even three releases didn’t bring good news as the collections weren’t as decent as one would expect. All the three movies, which were spanned across genres, opened to cold response at the ticket counters.

Rana Daggubati starrer The Ghazi Attack raked in only Rs 1.65 crore. Adding the collection of the movie in different versions, the total comes to Rs 4.25 crore. The war drama chronicled the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. Along with Rana, this Sankalp directorial also starred Kay Kay Menon, Taapsee Pannu and late actor Om Puri. Revealing The Ghazi Attack‘s collection on Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote the numbers are expected to go up during the weekend owing to the positive word of mouth.

Taapsee Pannu’s another release of week Running Shaadi too didn’t get an amazing response at the ticket counters. The film earned only Rs 2.8 crore at the Box Office, suggested media reports. The rom-com which showed how Taapsee Pannu helped couples flee and marry also featured Amit Sadh.

The third release Irada minted negligible money at the Box Office. It featured Arshad Warsi, Naseeruddin Shah and Sagarika Ghatge in pivotal roles but even such a stellar cast couldn’t attract moviegoers to theatres.

Ironically, the only movie which performed well at the Box Office was the one which released last week. Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLb 2 earned Rs 4.41 crore on Friday. The movie released on 10 February and has since then earned Rs 81.85 crore in the domestic market.
