Baahubali 2 going on record breaking spree is proof that SS Rajamouli has changed rules of the game

Baahubali: The Conclusion has become the only topic that people are discussing these days and the credit for it goes to SS Rajamouli

SS Rajamouli saw a dream and turned it into something that impressed everyone. By making Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, Rajamouli gave a treat to cine-lovers who were settling for something less since many years. Most of the movies that were made on an opulent scale like this, lacked soul and came out as a drag. But with Baahubali, SS Rajamouli changed the rules of the game and the Box Office collection of the first day is proof of that.

Baahubali: The Conclusion has become the first Indian movie to earn more than Rs 100 crore on the first day, Rs 144 crore to be exact. Trade expert Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to share the numbers where he gave the breakdown of all versions of the movie. The breakdown of the first record broken by Baahubali: The Conclusion is as follows:

Andhra Pradesh/Telangana: Rs 58 crore

Hindi – Rs 50 Cr

Karnataka – Rs 19.5 Cr

Tamil Nadu – Rs 11 Cr

Kerala – Rs 5.5 Cr

Total – 144 Cr

By attaining these stupendous numbers, Baahubali: The Conclusion has surged ahead of Bollywood biggies like Sultan and Dangal. Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are considered synonymous to Box Office success but by surpassing them, Baahubali: The Conclusion has proved that star power is not the only thing that works.

The third record that Baahubali: The Conclusion has broken is that it has surpassed its previous instalment. Baahubali: The Beginning earned Rs 45 crore in the entire first week but the sequel earned Rs 38.5 crore on the first day itself.

And the process of shattering records has just started. As the days progress, the number of records that Baahubali: The Conclusion will create and break will only increase.

The immense success and popularity of these movies are proof that Rajamouli understands the art of filmmaking like no other. The success also tells something about the lack of vision of filmmakers in Bollywood. For long the trend in Bollywood has been to star a powerful name, bring peppy numbers and promote the movie. No one really cares about the story or using technology in a way that would appeal to the masses. But as mentioned earlier, Rajamouli has changed the rules of the game.

Even if we assume that Rajamouli offered nothing new with the plot, that it was only about good defeating evil, But, it can’t be discredited that he masters the art of storytelling that wooed viewers and critics. The crux of many reviews was that even if you would wish to miss the movie because of the predictable story line, you shouldn’t as it offers a cinematic experience that will make you ecstatic. Such is the effect of Baahubali, few argued, that it would get your pulse racing. The whistling audience at the theatres could not come to talk ill about the movie despite it having few scenes that went overboard. Because at the end of it what was offered to them was a spectacular scene laden with amazing visual effects.

Baahubali: The Conclusion is the result of a man’s vision which he blended with the love of filmmaking. So, when Rajamouli was telling the most basic story of two cousins- one evil and one righteous, he put grandeur in such a way that made everyone mesmerised. Not that he needs to prove anything to anyone but SS Rajamouli is definitely one of the most successful filmmakers India has.
