Baahubali 2: Here's why SS Rajamouli's film trailer got postponed in Karnataka

A pro-Kannada group recently staged a protest in Bellary over the screening of Baahubali 2 trailer in Karnataka

The recently released trailer of SS Rajamouli film, Baahubali 2 is creating headlines with each passing day across the India. Be it is Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala or Mumbai, the trailer has already gone viral on the social media. The film, a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster, Baahubali: The Beginning stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles. The trailer, which had released on Thursday has already emerged as the most watched Indian film trailer.

However, the situation in Karnataka has a different story to tell. Reportedly, the trailer of Baahubali 2 is yet to be released in Karnataka. Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, a pro-Kannada group recently staged a protest in front of Radhika Theatre, Bellary over the screening of Baahubali 2 trailer in Karnataka.

The presence of actor Sathyaraj, who portrays Kattappa in Baahubali series has forced the group to protest against the film. The actor’s earlier speech against Karnataka over the Cauvery river water dispute has worked against the film and its trailer.

Reportedly, the group shouted slogans against Sathyaraj. The local police tried to solve the issue, but all attempts went in vain. After a lot of attempts, police directed the theater management to postpone the trailer release to a different date. The group is also demanding a ban on Baahubali 2 in Karnataka.

The trailer of the film released on March 16 and has shattered multiple records, with the latest being the Telugu version which crossed 21.8 million views on YouTube within 24 hours. The film features veteran actors Sathyaraj, Nassar, Ramya Krishnan, Rohini and Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep and is scheduled to release on 28 April 2017.
