Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna, who was hospitalised due to severe dehydration, took his last breath on Thursday. The actor, who was a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, was admitted to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai on March 31.

A few days back, his son Rahul Khanna confirmed that the actor was doing much better and the doctors are looking to discharge him soon. While his fans and well-wishers took to social media and prayed for his well-being, this news comes as a shock to each one of them.

Starting his career with minor roles in 1969, the actor built up a hugely successful career. Vinod Khanna’s last Bollywood outing was Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi, which was based on the book Rajpath se Lokpath par written by Goa Governor Mridula Sinha. In a career span of 45 years, Vinod Khanna worked in more than 100 films and has given us some super hits like Mere Apne, Insaaf and Amar Akbar Anthony among others.

Sanjay Dutt released a statement in press that read, “It is saddening to hear of the demise of Vinod Khanna ji. I have watched him as a child and throughout my life was always fascinated by his style and charisma. He was always a thorough gentleman. A big loss to the fraternity. He is and always will be family to the Dutts. May his soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to Kavita Bhabhi, Akshay, Rahul and Sakshi.”
