Uttar Pradesh elections 2017: Phase 3 polling ends, 61.16% turnout recorded across 12 districts

Polling for the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections commenced across 12 districts on February 19 in which, according to the media reports, a total of 61.16 % voting turnout was recorded. Surprisingly, there was no encouragement seen among the voters in Etawah which is the hometown of the Yadav Family. By 3 pm in the afternoon, a total of 52.63 per cent votes were cast.In another Samajwadi home ground, Mainpuri, 50.35 per cent turnout was recorded. While Farukkhabad witnessed an impressive voter turnout with 54.40 per cent. The election officials assumed that the voter percentage would better itself from the 2012 state assembly elections.

However, the turnout recorded from Lucknow and Unnao were extremely poor which were just 50.5 and 50 per cent respectively.The maximum number of candidates in the fray were from Etawah (21), the hometown of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, while the least number is in Haidergarh (3) assembly constituency of Barabanki, neighbouring the state capital here.
