UP elections 2017: Without Ram Mandir, develpoment is worthless in state, says Vinay Katiyar

Ayodhya which is known as the birthplace of Lord Rama is considered as a prestige constituency for the BJP.

Amid the ongoing state assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar, on February 27, has asserted that the development and employment generation in UP are worthless until Ram Mandir is constructed in Ayodhya.

As reported by the news agency ANI, Katiyar said,”In Uttar Pradesh, development, education and employment are there but everything is meaningless without Ram Mandir.” Earlier last week, while addressing a rally in Faizabad, he assured the people if BJP gets the majority in the state, Ram Mandir will definitely be constructed.

“BJP have to construct the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It is very important for India’s unity and integrity,” said Katiyar while sharing the dais with Union Minister Rajnath Singh.

Vinay Katiyar has been in the news earlier as well due to his controversial remarks on Priyanka Gandhi. On January 25, Katiyar joined the league of sexists politicians and took a jibe at Priyanka Gandhi saying that he could get better star campaigner for the upcoming elections and that there were prettier women.

Earlier on January 28, BJP national chief Amit Shah announced the party manifesto which they have termed ‘Sankalp Patra’. The manifesto has a massive amount of promises ranging from free WiFi in colleges to taking steps to improve the law and order of the state including the Ram Mandir issue. Shah also raised the age-old Ram mandir issue and said that a temple will be made at the contentious Ayodhya site while staying within the constitutional framework.

Ayodhya which is known as the birthplace of Lord Rama is considered as a prestige constituency for the BJP. The party rose to power on the back of Ram temple movement and after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
